About Cafe 92
A Legacy-Driven Initiative
Born from a deep connection to campus life, Cafe 92 is a heartfelt initiative by the IIT Bombay alumni batch of 1992. Having lived through the daily rhythms of student life, the alumni recognized a long-standing need — a dedicated café space beyond the standard hostel canteens, especially near residential zones.
Fuelled by conversations with the Hostel Committee and college administration, this vision took shape as a functional, community-first eatery. More than just a café, it represents a legacy of giving back — a space designed to foster connection, conversation, and comfort for current students.
Cafe 92 officially opened its doors by the end of December 2021, marking a new chapter in campus culture.
Logo Design
A Typographic Tribute
The identity for Cafe 92 is rooted in typography, drawing visual inspiration from ‘90s aesthetics while staying relevant to a young, college-going audience.
At its core, the logo brings together the word “Café” and the number ‘92’, a direct nod to the alumni batch that initiated the project. The stylized numerals evoke a sense of legacy, while the clean, contemporary type for “Café” ensures approachability and modern appeal.
Designed with versatility in mind, the logo adapts seamlessly across formats — from signage and merchandise to digital screens — offering both dynamic presence and functional clarity.
